Some interesting news!

First off, English football club Portsmouth may be shutting down in the foreseeable future. This comes after negotiations with their main creditor brokedown. Their are some in the club who are highlighting some things as meaning the club may survive but their circumstances are quite dire. In other news, arguably the World's best footballer, Pele has turned 70. He is the only player thus far in the history of soccer to play in 3 World Cup winning teams. The Brazilain is said to be in good health too! Meanwhile, in the ploitical sphere of football, the scandal of vote-selling for the rights to hold the FIFA World Cup is being investigated. A Nigerian FIFA official refuted allegations that he was part of a group who may have tried to sell his vote. Amos Adamu allegedly wanted money to build pitches in Nigeria. Another representative, Reynald Temarii of Tahiti who is the  president of the Oceania Football Confederation was also alleged to have tried to sell his vote to pay for a sports academy. Both Adamu and Temarii were suspended for 30 days as investigations began. Adamu has actually welcomed the probes as he wants the truth to be known. He is supposed to have told undercover reporters (so cool!) that he wanted around $800,000 for the establishment of 4 artificial pitches. On December 2nd the FIFA committee of 24 members will vote for who will receive the honor of holding the World Cup. Tunisia's Slim Aloulou, Mali's Amadou Diakite, Botswana's Ismael Bhamjee and Tonga's Ahongalu Fusimalohi were also provisionally suspended. On similar grounds, the bids of  Spain/Portugal and Qatar  are also under investigation as they may be guilty of collusion between nation's bids; that is for example, they may have promised their votes for one bid for 2018 if the bid members from the other bid would promise their bids for the 2022 spot.
