TP Mazembe Englebert.

As a side with an excellent record in African football they became the first club to successfully defend their African Champions Cup title in the years 1967 and 1968, then still called Tout Puissant Englebert, they are also in a good position to advance to the semi-finals of this year's CAF Champions League. From the DR Congo, the side led by the Senegalese coach Lamine N’Diaye beat JS Kabylie 3-1 and then  drew in Algeria to go through to their fifth Champions League final. They then dealt with Tunisian side Esperance, winning 5-0 victory at home in Lubumbashi before drawing 1-1 in the away leg. TP Mazembe Englebert have been drawn to face Pachuca CF of Mexico in the first round of the Club World Cup hoping for a better time then The Crows (Les Corbeaux) had in the Abu Dhabi final last year, losing to then Asian Champions Pohang Steelers and again to Auckland City. TP Mazembe Englebert's rise is partially to do with the coaching the side have in addition to the team itself. Moise Katumbi is another central figure in the side's return to glory as the club chairman. A businessman as well, his cash injections have certainly helped to boost the club's standing. Many of the players on the side have a back story in this competition, goalkeeper Robert Muteba Kidiaba is one of these such players. Having been sent-off in Englebert's fifth-place match with Auckland for handling the ball outside of his area, he should be quite happy to have a second chance at the finals as he is 34 and births in the Club World Cup aren't always easy to obtain. Having won the African Champions League, he may well be on his way to rectifying his past mistakes.  Al Ahly's third-place finish in 2006 is Africa's best showing in the history of the Club World Cup, with only North African teams showing much success. It'll be interesting to see if Englebert can overturn this trend. Best of luck to all the teams representing their respective continents!
