The blogger on Russia and Qatar.

Dealing with the recent controversy surrounding the World Cup hosting rights of 2018 and 2022, here are some things to keep in mind: Russia may be a little too big, with nine time zones within one nation. Racism is also rampant in Russia, and domestically it has failed to be brought to justice. Also, Russia need a lot of infrastructure help not just stadium-wise but also transportation and administration-wise. The few positives of the Russian bid were that they have the largest energy reserves and are very wealthy. Qatar meanwhile is very hot no matter what technologies can be implemented. The nation is also a little too small to deal with the teams and fans of 32 other nations. Other issues include workers and women's rights that aren't very good at all. Nonetheless, Qatar have the third largest energy reserves, are very wealthy, and are also a big possible pool for soccer fans. This isn't to say that the two shouldn't have the right to host the World Cup, but that their are some aspects to each of these nations which should have been taken into account by FIFA more than others. I actually do think that a Middle Eastern/Gulf nation should host the World Cup however they do need to improve some things. Russia meanwhile should host a European Championship before getting this honor.
