Asian Cup with news about Japan and Jordan and a domestic match from Spain.

Japan qualified for the Quarter-finals after they eliminated Saudi Arabia in their match today with a 5-0 scoreline with a hat-trick from Shinji Okazaki and another two goals from Ryoichi Maeda. The match continued and ended the Saudi's miserable showing this year during which they only scored a single goal. In the other match today, Jordan edged Syria 2-1 thanks to an own-goal by the unlucky Ali Dyab actually equalised the two sides in the 30th after his teammate Mohamad Al Zino had opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Odai Al Saify then put Jordan ahead with a smooth strike nine minutes short of the hour mark. Finally, in Spain, Athletico Madrid were two up against Mallorca at the half before winning the match 3-0 thanks to the talents of Juan Valera, Diego Forlan, and Jose Antonio Reyes. Mallorca were unlucky to not convert their penalty, but it would have only been a consolation goal most likely as Athletico ran away with the game despite falling a player short first. Mallorca also lost a player later in the game though as the sides finished 10 on 10 yet with very different results.
