Asian Cup update 1/22/2011. Domestic update to follow.

Australia and Iraq faced off today in Qatar for a show of brilliant football that only ended when Harry Kewell finally broke the deadlock in extra-time to make it 1-0. His header was just what the Aussies needed, and what the Iraqis dreaded, to settle who was going to the Semis. Matt McKay set-up the situation beautifully as he crossed the ball right into Kewell's path. Kewell gladly converted. The Iraqis actually played a very good game, had it not been for the experience of the Australians the game very well may have gone down to penalties. Even Mohammed Kassid, the Iraqi goalie, had a good game, denying several chances until the fortunate, or unfortunate, game winning header. Nevertheless, the Australians will face Uzbekistan next while the Iraqis have nothing to be embarassed about as they go out.
