Quick update on the Copa America: 7/20/2011.

Just yesterday, we saw the first of the two semi-finals of the Copa America where Peru and Uruguay faced off again after a draw the last time the two sides met, in the group stage. Well, the result was totally different for the Celeste this time around! Luis Suarez had a magnificent game, striking 2 goals within in 5 minutes or so after a 1st half that, while providing some opportunities, left much to be desired. The 2nd 45 minutes was a complete turn around with Suarez showing his skills and bagging the opener in the 52nd minute. He struck 5 minutes later to solidify Uruguay's position in the Final. And Peru? Well, they shared ball possession roughly 50-50, they had a total of 9 shots (3 of which can be said to have been on target) while also collecting 3 yellows and a red. One way or another, we have a winner from the match in La Plata and now Uruguay must wait for the winner of the second semi-final later today taking place in Mendoza. Best of luck to both Paraguay and Venezuela, and I for one am looking forward to a great Final match on the 24th!
