Tottenham v.s. AC Milan and Schalke v.s. Valencia.

Tottenham welcomed Italian-side AC Milan and allowed them only a 0-0 draw on the second leg, giving the English-side a birth in the next round since they won the first leg 1-0 for an aggregate victory by the same margin! AC Milan possessed the ball well and had  a handful of shots, several of which looked nice, but nothing was going in for them as Spurs held firm. Milan also had all of the discipline issues too, as Pato, Mathieu Flamini, and then Marek Jankulovski were given yellow cards while the frustration mounted. In a far more interesting game of the day, Schalke faced and beat Valencia 3-1 in the second leg of their matches, winning by a firm aggregate score of 4-2. Jefferson Farfan struck twice including a fourth minute of stoppage time goal in the second half while Mario Gavranovic slotted in between Farfan's double. Ricardo Costa scored Valencia's only goal in Germany against the Germans.
