Thrilling games in the Champions League. 3/16/11.

Thanks to a comprehensive victory over Lyon today, Real Madrid are through to the last eight for the first time since 2004. With a 1-1 result from the first leg, Marcelo opened the scoring for his side in the 33rd, scoring the only goal of the first half and putting Real Madird on comfortable footing. Karim Benzema slotted home in the 66th to score Madrid's second of the game before Angel Di Maria struck the games' third in the 76th to give Real an  aggregate victory of 4-1 over their French opposition. Chelsea on the other hand merely drew 0-0 with Kobenhavn in England to win by an aggregate score of 2-0 from the first leg. They now advance to the Quarter finals with a boost of confidence. It wasn't for lack of trying though, as Chelsea had 22 attempts at goal compared to Kobenhavn's total of seven. Kobenhavn did have a majority of possession, but were unable to convert that into anything useful and paid the price.
