Champions League 2/23/2011!!!

What a brilliant day in Italy and a boring one in France! Inter Milan hosted Bayern Munich today in Milan and lost. Yes, it was ony by a 1-0 margin but it was a fantastic conclusion to a pitched battle. Inter did seem to have more attempts on goal, but the sides were evenly matched throughout the first 89 minutes. When Mario Gomez finally converted after Arjen Robben's shot was blocked by Julio Cesar in the 90th minute, the Italians surprised to say the least. Bayern's Thomas Kraft had a really good game, stopping many attempts by the Inter players to break the deadlock. That the Bayern players were the ones to actually do it was definately the first step down the road to sweet revenge since Inter were victorious in the Final last year. In the other match of the day, Marseille and Manchester United fought out a goalless draw in a game where there were few attempts and even fewer goals. United did have a bit more of possession while Marseille had a couple more corners but neither side really used either advantage. Hopefully the second leg will be more enjoyable!
