Champions League matches today: 11/23/2010

Spartak Moskva v.s. Marseille: Spartak Moskva were hoping for some fortune at home against French side Olympique Marseille however they got only pain today as Valbuena opened the scoring for the French side a little before the 20th minute. There was a yellow card for both sides in the first half and some other chances, no other breakthroughs though. The second half seemed to be going the same way but Remy scored another goal for Marseille around the 55th minute to make the game 2-0. Spartak Moskva were not helped by the loss of a player, Welliton, in the 64th minute after he received a red card for a poor challenge followed by another yellow card; If Moskva were to score as many goals as they got cards, this would be a far more interesting game. And Brandão scores a third goal for the French side, just before the 70th minute. With this performance it looks like Marseille are going on to the next round. Moskva's chances look quite less rosy as they have lost Welliton and seemingly the three points, always crucial this late in the group stages. Spartak Moskva aren't giving up though, as they create a few more chances as the game winds down. It'll be a pleasant surprise if they can put something away. Unfortunately, the game ends with only some token attempts and a few more challenges. 4 minutes of extra time is only prolonging what has been known for some time now. Information on the other games of the day will be available later.
