European U-21 Championship 6/14/11.

Today is all about Group A action as Switzerland defeated Iceland 2-0 and Denmark and Belarus are currently tied 0-0 in the 18th minute. In Switzerland's game, they simply outgunned their opponents, striking a total of 16 times to Iceland's 9 total shots. It started as early as possible though, with Fabian Frei striking in the first minute of the game after running onto a well-placed ball from Xherdan Shaqiri. However, it wasn't until the 40th minute when the Swiss scored their second goal, this time a somewhat lucky ball from Innocent Emeghara bounced off and over the goalie's leg and into the net. This was after a nice piece of skill where Emeghara split the defense, bursting through and striking. The score was thus 2-0 at the half with no change (despite efforts from both sides) in the second half. As I post this hosts Denmark are still level with Belarus despite an effort from the Dane's Christian Eriksen from a free-kick. Belarus has had one attempt that didn't trouble the goalkeeper.Check that! Belarus have taken the lead through Dmitri Baga in the 20th minute! 1-0 Belarus! But Denmark have drawn level! This thanks to Christian Eriksen missing his penalty opportunity but finished just seconds later! I'll post a final report when the match is over, enjoy what has been an exciting match thus far!
