U-17 Championships of Europe 5/12/2011. Friendly competition in Spain too.

It was an intense set of matches today with the Netherlands edging England 1-0. Kyle Ebecilio scored the massively important goal in the 26th minute to put the Oranje into the Final. England had only a couple of chances with none of them real opportunities as the Dutch essentially dominated the semi-final fixture. In the other leg, Denmark were beaten quite soundly, and surprisingly, by Germany 2-0. Kaan Ayhan struck in the 58th to put the Germans ahead after a relatively uneventful second half. Nils Quaschner then struck in the 70th minute to seal the deal for a promising German side. With these results, the Final is set-up between neighbors and rivals Germany and the Netherlands for this Sunday. Best of luck to both sides! I would predict that the Dutch will continue their impressive run of form though a German victory would be very welcome! In other news, Iker Casillas, the goalie and captain of Real Madrid congratulated big rivals Barcelona on winning their 21st La Liga title. This show of good sportsmanship has been unfortunately lacking of late and the fact that Spaniards can still stand up and congratulate each other after several intense rivalry matches in the recent history bodes well for the world's game as a whole.
