Champions League: October 23.

Well the Champions League matches of the day have taken place and they were all positively thrilling! First of all, there was Spartak Moskva's game against Benfica which was fascinating as the Portuguese side went down in the 3rd minute by a Rafael Carloca goal before equalizing in the 33rd minute of the game thanks to Lima's strike. That wasn't the end of the 1st half action though, as Spartak were able to find their way in front after Benfica's Jardel converted an own goal in the 43rd minute which really deflated the Portuguese side. Having said that, Spartak's 61% of possession was certainly an important aspect of their eventual victory. Despite intense pressure in the dying minutes of the game, Benfica couldn't make it pay as they left Russia with 0 points dropping them to the bottom of the table. Surprisingly, Nordsjaelland were able to keep level with the Italian champions Juventus thanks to Mikkel Beckmann's 50th minute goal. Luckily for the Old Ladies, Mirko Vucinic was able to equalize in the 81st to salvage what might have been a disastrous game. Nevertheless, it was disappointing for the Italians to be sure! I will post about the remaining games later, other matters must be attended to! Hope you enjoyed the games!
